Most of us suffer greatly from our relationship with our past and our unconsciousness. One of the great mysteries we all face in our lives is how this force of samsara or unconsciousness becomes manifest in our everyday lives. Many ask, “how come I seem to have the same painful situations arise in my life again and again?”
The reason is because anything unresolved in our past becomes projected into our present to be healed. When we discover this, most individuals, often say something like, “how do I get rid of this pain, or this sad, angry or confused aspect of myself?”
Here is a critical misunderstanding, we feel that if we get rid of an aspect of ourselves then we will be happy again. Yet true happiness does not come from getting rid of our sadness, or anger.
Happiness comes from clarity of Being and a willingness to meet our pain with love—allowing it to transform and allowing the jewel within our pain to be integrated within our everyday lives.
When we are able to step into our True Nature and embrace our pain, anger, sadness or confusion—these very forces become transformed into something wonderful. When we embrace pain it transforms into Peace, anger embraced transforms into power, sadness into compassion, confusion transforms into clarity. If we simply try to divorce ourselves from these forces within us they only become louder and their projections become more powerful in our lives. We all know someone who has tried to suppress their anger with drinking, or by becoming a workaholic, or with spirituality. (Perhaps that person is us). Yet we find again and again that this does not work, and notice that one day this anger will come out of us with a vengeance. Yet if we embrace this anger within us and meet it with love, we may discover a voice within us telling us we need to leave a job or a relationship—as we listen to this voice and choose to embody our truth, we become clear, powerful and ultimately happy.
The Beautiful thing about our unconsciousness is that it is the very map of our spiritual path. It lets us know where we need to grow, where we need to evolve next. Our unconsciousness is not separate from Life, the two work together arranging our lives for our greatest possible evolution.
